Joints are responsible for the interaction between different parts of limbs; they allow movements and provide mechanical support. This makes joints one of the key elements of locomotory systems. The goal of this research is to describe the morphology and anatomy of joints in beetle legs and the biomechanical, tribological, functional, and structural properties of the cuticle of joints. The model objects are imagoes of the darkling beetle Zophobas morio and Congo rose chafer Pachnoda marginata.
